Beginning January 2010, Brooklyn Law will consider transfer applications from candidates at other law schools as soon as their Fall 2009 grades are released. This means that for transfer applicants who apply by January for August 2010 entry, we may be able to offer admission as early as February, instead of waiting until mid-summer for that decision. Of course, enrollment in fall will remain subject to proof of commensurate academic performance during the spring term at the prior law school.
This early notice is intended to minimize the anxiety that accompanies the transfer process.
Looking to practice in New York after graduation? A recent issue of Super Lawyers magazine includes a ranking of law schools that produced the highest number of “Super Lawyers” practicing in the New York Metro area. Brooklyn Law School ranked #5, behind only NYU, Columbia, Harvard and Fordham, in number of graduates included on the Metro New York list of Super Lawyers. In this year’s Super Lawyers national ranking of 180 law schools, Brooklyn Law ranks #47, surpassed only by NYU (#6), Columbia (#7), and Fordham (#27) among New York City law schools. Unlike U.S. News and World Report, Super Lawyers focuses on “quality of lawyers produced by the schools” in their annual rankings.
