All program schedules are tentative and subject to change and advance registration is requested. Please telephone the Admissions Office at (718) 780-7906 or email visit@brooklaw.edu prior to each scheduled program to confirm the meeting date, time and place. In addition to the options listed above, admitted applicants are offered a variety of other programs to familiarize them with the Law School.

Meet Me In Brooklyn
Our Meet Me In Brooklyn program, for small groups of applicants and prospective applicants, is conducted once a month between October and December. The program begins at 9:00 a.m. and ends at approximately 2:00 p.m. Guests may, of course, arrive late or leave early as their schedules require.

This program is especially appropriate for candidates who have an application pending for admission in our next entering class and are eager to learn more about the Law School.

The program typically includes:

  • An overview of the students, faculty and academic programs of Brooklyn Law School.

  • A financial aid workshop that introduces you to the costs of a law school education and surveys the financial resources available to meet them.

  • An opportunity to attend an actual law school class in session (schedule permitting).

  • A brief guided tour of the Law School's main campus.

Note: Registration for this program is not available until the beginning of the Fall 2008 semester. Please check back with us to register at this time.

Admission Strategies Workshop
An evening admission workshop, typically from 5:30-7:00 p.m., explores the law school admissions process -- getting into law school and choosing the school that is right for you.

The Admissions Strategies Workshop is appropriate for those who are beginning to work on their admission application or who are considering applying to law school in the future. Because the workshop focuses on the nuts and bolts of preparing an effective admission application, it is not designed for candidates who have already submitted an application for the next entering class.

The program discusses: what admission committees evaluate and, more generally, how the admission process works; application strategies; presenting your undergraduate record; the importance of letters of evaluation; how to approach the personal essay; dealing with potential weakness; avoiding admission mistakes; and when to apply.

Note: Registration for this program is not available until the beginning of the Fall 2008 semester. Please check back with us to register at this time.

BLS Infovisit
Once or twice each week (except holidays), the Admissions Office hosts a 90-minute tour and information session for admission candidates.

The Program offers a walking tour of the School's major academic facilities that is led by an admissions officer or a currently enrolled student who will provide commentary and answer questions.

An Admissions Officer will not be present at all tours due to the spring recruiting schedule.

Class Action
To experience the look and feel of an actual law school class in progress, you are welcome to sit in on one or more classes at Brooklyn Law School. All classes are held in the Main Building, at 250 Joralemon Street. In planning such an activity, keep in mind that the last day of Fall semester classes is December 4, and that reading and Fall examination periods extend through December 22. It is generally not advisable to attend a class during the final week of a semester. On the day of your visit, try to arrive at the classroom a few minutes before the scheduled start time, to introduce yourself to the professor and explain why you are there. Please do not enter a classroom after class has begun or exit a classroom while the class is still in session.

Before going to the classroom, you will need to stop by the Admissions Office to pick up a visitor's pass and a schedule of classes that can be visited. You can view the Fall 2008 class schedule (PDF) online. If you would like to schedule a classroom visit in advance, please telephone the Admissions Office at (718) 780-7906 or email visit2@brooklaw.edu, at least several days prior to the date you plan to attend. If you will be attending a 9:00 a.m. class, we can usually arrange for a visitor's pass and class schedule to be left for you at the security desk in the Main Building, at 250 Joralemon, where classes are held.

Walkabout
If you are unable to participate in any of our formal programs, we encourage you to pay a casual, "walk-in" visit to Brooklyn Law School at a convenient time for you. It is not necessary to schedule your visit in advance (except on weekends or holidays). In planning your visit, keep in mind that the last day of fall semester classes is December 4, 2008, and that reading and fall examination periods extend through December 22, 2008. Please note that, while you are welcome to sit in on a class, it is generally not advisable to do so during the final week of the semester.

When you arrive on campus, you will first need to stop by the Admissions Office to pick up a visitor's pass, materials for a self-guided tour of our facilities, and a schedule of classes that can be visited. If you would like to schedule a "walk-in" visit in advance, please telephone the Admissions Office at (718) 780-7906 or email visit2@brooklaw.edu.

Financial Aid 101
The Law School’s Financial Aid Office conducts a series of financial aid workshops during the spring semester for prospective students. Our workshops are designed to furnish basic information about the cost of a legal education, the financial aid process, the types of aid available, and the procedures for applying. All workshops begin at 10:00 a.m. and last for approximately two hours.

Career Conversations
The Career Center hosts a series of presentations describing the services offered by the Center during the spring semester. Here is an opportunity to discover how our Career Center can give you the competitive edge! Our professional staff of seven attorney-counselors will explore current trends in the national job market for law school graduates; highlight our innovative career services program; review the School's placement record in recent years; and demonstrate use of our special computerized job-listings/student tracking system.
