Your Career is Our Business

We are dedicated to ensuring that you will be successful in the legal marketplace. Upon entering Brooklyn Law School, we assign you to one of our counselors who will work with you throughout your three or four years here, and beyond. You will meet with your counselor in individual counseling sessions at least once each semester, and we encourage you to see us more often than that.

Scheduling an appointment with your counselor is easy. Just call our main number, 718-780-7963. Or, visit our Annex, located in the entry-way to the dining hall on the fourth floor of the main building, where the counselor on duty can set up an appointment for you. Annex hours are 1:00-2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Annex is convenient for quick questions, and to pick up announcements of upcoming career events.

Your counselor will do much more than review your resume and cover letters, although we take this review very seriously. And we don’t review these documents just once. It is important to revise them often throughout law school as your interests and skills change. In addition, because mastering the legal interview is essential to being competitive in the legal market, your counselor will prepare you for your interviews and can record and play back the prep session on the spot. Interview preparation has helped numerous students improve their interviewing technique. Last, but definitely not least, your counselor serves as your overall career advisor, helping you develop an interesting resume that will give you excellent experience while making you competitive in the post-graduate marketplace.

Searching for a summer, part-time, or post-graduate job is as easy as logging on to your Symplicity Home Page and clicking on “Jobs and Resume Collection”. The Fall On-Campus Interviewing Program will be organized and run through Symplicity as well.

We present numerous informational and practice area programs throughout the academic year. For example, our “Lunch with a Practitioner” series has been enormously successful . We also sponsor networking receptions with selected law firms. All of our events are posted on your Symplicity Home Page.
