Outstanding Faculty

Brooklyn Law School faculty are dedicated to shaping law in the outside world and teaching law in the classroom. Below are brief profiles of some of our talented minority faculty.

Bill Araiza is an expert in constitutional and administrative law, and teaches Administrative Law, Constitutional Law, Constitutional Law III: First Amendment, and Sexuality and the Law.

I. Bennett Capers is an expert in criminal law and procedure, and evidence law. He teaches a Race, Gender, and Crime Seminar, as well as Criminal Law, Criminal Procedure, and Evidence.

Steven Dean specializes in tax law and policy, international tax, tax havens, and tax simplification. He teaches Corporate Taxation, Federal Income Taxation, International Taxation, and Tax Policy.

Beryl Jones-Woodin specializes in copyright law, art law, and professional responsibility. She teaches an Art Law Practicum and Seminar, as well as Copyright Law, Professional Responsibility, and Property.

Joy Kanwar teaches legal writing courses, and is also a torts expert.

Karen Porter is an expert in AIDS policy, law and medicine, and public health law. She is the Executive Director of Brooklyn Law School's Center for Health, Science, and Public Policy and teaches the Health Law Clinic and Public Health Law and Policy. 

Samuel Murumba teaches and writes principally in the fields of intellectual property and international human rights. He teaches Copyright Law, Human Rights and Intellectual Property, International Human Rights, Property, and Trademark and Unfair Competition.
