Risa B. Gerson, previously director of the wrongful conviction reinvestigation project at the Office of the Appellate Defender, was named director of quality enhancement for appellate and post-conviction representation for the NYS Office of Indigent Legal Services. Gerson leads and oversees efforts to improve the quality of appellate and post-conviction representation under Article 18-B throughout the state. (10/2/2012)

Richard G. Gertler joined the Garden City, NY office of Davidoff Hutcher & Citron, LLP as a partner in the firm's Commercial Litigation Group. He focuses his practice on the areas of commercial and bankruptcy litigation, corporate governance, transactional and real estate law. (3/28/2014)

Kenneth A. Kopelman and Susan L. Merrill '86 were featured in an article in the New York Law Journal (Apr. 3, 2013) about their move as part of an 11 lawyer team from Bingham McCutchen LLP to Sidley Austin LLP to expand Sidley’s Securities Enforcement and Regulatory Practice Groups. Kopelman counsels broker-dealers, banks, hedge funds and other financial institutions on a wide range of financial products and services. Merrill, former head of Bingham’s Securities Enforcement Practice, advises clients on regulatory enforcement matters and assists broker-dealers, investment advisers, financial institutions and Fortune 500 companies on internal investigations for the SEC and FINRA. She is the former head of enforcement at FINRA. (4/5/2013)

Howard S. Saffan, president of the Bridgeport, CT real estate development company, Bishop Design and Development, was featured in an article in the Stamford Advocate (Mar. 6, 2014). The article discussed the creation of Saffan's company and his concurrent role as the president of the Bridgeport Sound Tigers hockey team and the Webster Bank Arena. Saffan also owns and operates the SportsCenter of Connecticut, a skeleton skating and recreation venue. (3/28/2014)
