    In an op-ed for The Huffington Post, Professor Jonathan Askin discusses the potential consequences of the release of over 250,000 American diplomatic cables by Wikileaks. He opines that the government's reaction should not be to "hold more tightly to its 'secrets,'" but to use this opportunity to create a more transparent model of communication between elected officials and the public. He writes, "Our government must focus on how to better curate the information to improve openness, transparency, and public discourse on issues of national, global, and civic importance. Wikileaks is simply the latest sign that a new model of open governance is needed."
