Three hundred and twenty-six Brooklyn Law School graduates were recognized in the annual New York Edition of Super Lawyers Magazine, which featured Gerald Shargel ‘69 on the cover. The magazine named attorneys in each state who received the highest points, as chosen by their peers and through independent research. Not only did the number of Brooklyn Law School graduates who were recognized increase from last year, but the Law School’s ranking increased, tying with Fordham Law School for fourth place among all law schools in the nation.
Six of the top 50 women recognized by Super Lawyers were Brooklyn Law School graduates: Harriet Newman Cohen ’74, Barbara Kaplan ’75, Ellen Makofsky ’85, Eileen Nugent ’78, Jane Stevens ’77, and Lynne Fischman Uniman ’79.
There were also 30 rising stars that represent the state’s top up-and-coming attorneys.
Only five percent of lawyers in New York are recognized by Super Lawyers for attaining a high degree of peer recognition and professional achievement. Super Lawyers Magazine is published as a supplement in leading newspapers throughout the country and is recognized as an important publication among those in the legal field. Super Lawyers magazine is published in all 50 states and reaches more than 13 million readers.
