Brooklyn Law School is pleased to announce that Kenneth R. Feinberg will deliver the 2013 Commencement address on June 7, at Avery Fisher Hall in Lincoln Center.

Feinberg is best known as the leading attorney overseeing settlement payouts in the wake of massive disasters. He has handled the settlements of many high-profile cases over a wide range of areas. He served as the Special Master of the Federal September 11th Victim Compensation Fund of 2001, in which he handled the monumental responsibility of evaluating claims and determining appropriate compensation to the victims’ families. In 2009, he was appointed by Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner as Wall Street’s “pay czar,” tasked with the job of calculating compensation for the executives of failing financial institutions that had received taxpayer bailout money. The following year, he was appointed by BP as the independent administrator of a $20 billion fund set up to compensate victims of the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. Most recently he has been tapped by Pennsylvania State University to assist in resolving all claims concerning child sex-abuse victims of former assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky.

Feinberg has also served as Fund Administrator for the Hokie Spirit Memorial Fund following the tragic shootings at Virginia Tech, and acted as Special Settlement Master in many mass class action cases, including Agent Orange product liability cases, asbestos personal injury litigation, and cases involving the effects of the drug diethylstilbestrol (DES) during pregnancy.

As the founder and managing partner of Feinberg Rozen, Feinberg has been involved in resolving thousands of disputes involving a wide range of interests and clients. He has been appointed to two presidential commissions because of his experience and expertise. In 2004, he was named "Lawyer of the Year" by the National Law Journal, and has been named repeatedly as one of "The 100 Most Influential Lawyers in America" by the National Law Journal.

Feinberg received his B.A., cum laude, from the University of Massachusetts and his J.D from New York University School of Law.
