Frequently Asked Questions & Contacts
Having problems? Have a suggestion for us about how to improve this site? Need to post an announcement? The list below will direct you to the right person.
I can’t find what I need. Where can I get help?
There are several features to help you locate the extensive resources available on the BLS Web site.
- Left Navigation Bar: On the left side of every page is a navigation bar with links to the main sections of the Web site. If you hold your mouse still over anyone of the buttons on the navigation bar, a list of subsections will appear.
- Site Map: Near the bottom of the left navigation bar is a button to the Site Map. The site map lists a clickable table of contents for the entire site, including subsections and available material.
- Search: At the bottom of the navigation bar is a search box. Type the word or words you are seeking and click on “GO!” The search results will list every page containing the word or words you entered for your search. As with all search engines, our site's search function may require a few tricks for refining your search and a little patient exploration.
Where’s everything that used to be on the old home page?
It’s all still there, just organized a little differently. Go to the Students home page and you will find quick links to just about everything you need, from Webmail and Web courses to current registration materials. Announcements and events are listed under the “Important Notices” link on the Students home page, which also contains a link to “What’s New,” where general Law School news and video archives can be found. Bookmark the Students home page in your browser for quick access.
Why can’t I open a link marked PDF? What is a PDF, anyway?
A PDF or Portable Document Format file is essentially an electronic photocopy that you can view and print out from the Web. PDF files require the software program Adobe Acrobat Reader. The software is free and can be downloaded from the Adobe Web site. You must first download and install Acrobat Reader on your computer before you can open these files. Acrobat Reader is widely used on the Web as an easy way to make forms, notices and publications available to download and print out from virtually any computer, regardless of browser or operating system.
A link isn’t working. Whom do I contact?
As in the real world, addresses change with surprising frequency on the Web, and we strive to keep the links on our site updated. Please direct comments or questions about links to one of the following:
- The Brooklyn Law School Library provides an extensive list of research links in the Library section of this site. Several research sites require subscriptions, which are maintained by the library. Please address all questions or issues about Library links to Victoria Szymczak at victoria.szymczak@brooklaw.edu.
- The Career Center also provides helpful links to resources such as Emplawyernet, as well as the Judicial Clerkship and On-Campus Interviewing listings. Please direct all questions about Career Center links (and passwords) to career@brooklaw.edu.
- Issues with any other link on the site should be addressed to the Communications Department, 718-780-0382 or communications@brooklaw.edu.
Whom should I contact if I don’t have a username and password, or if my user name and password don’t work?
Issues with password-protected services provided by Brooklyn Law School should be directed to the IT Department Help Desk at (718) 780-7507 or by email at support@brooklaw.edu.
Issues with usernames and passwords for outside resources should be directed to the department providing the services. For example, issues with your Emplawyernet password should be directed to the Career Center, or issues with password-protected Library research sites should be directed to the Library.
I’m having problems with my Webmail. Whom do I contact?
If you are having problems with Webmail, please contact the Information Technology Help Desk at (718) 780-7507 or by email at support@brooklaw.edu.
How can I have an announcement posted?
Announcements are posted by Maureen Mattison in the Student Services Office. You can stop by the office, which is located at 250 Joralemon, 7th Floor, call (718) 780-7908/9 or send an email to maureen.mattison@brooklaw.edu.
How can I offer a suggestion about the site?
The great thing about a Web site is that it’s constantly changing and evolving and we encourage you to send us your ideas about how to improve it. Please send your suggestions and comments in an email to the Communications Office at communications@brooklaw.edu.
