Wireless Access

Getting Connected
To see the status of the network, see our network status page. For answers to common questions about wireless connection please review our Frequently Asked Questions.

If your laptop doesn’t already have one, you will need a wireless card (PCMCIA wireless adapter) to connect to the wireless network. You can buy a card from a local retailer such as J&R Computer World or by utilizing the Computer Discount Warehouse/BLS Student Purchase program located on the web at www.cdwg.com/bls. Any 802.11b or 802.11g Wi-Fi compliant card will work on the network.

Install your card according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Once properly installed, your computer will notify you that one or more wireless signals are available. Our network’s SSID is called swlan and it uses 128-bit WEP encryption.
