Lexis-Nexis® and Westlaw®
The library subscribes to both Lexis-Nexis® and Westlaw® for the use of current Brooklyn Law School students, faculty and staff and only for the purpose of academic research.
Westlaw® and Lexis-Nexis® are computerized research databases containing the full-text of federal and state court opinions, statutes, administrative decisions, articles from law reviews, newspapers, magazines and a wealth of other legal and non-legal information.
Both systems are accessible through the library's computer labs. These services are available to all students seven days a week, all hours that the library is open. Students also have unrestricted home or office access to Lexis® and Westlaw® through the World Wide Web.
First year students are trained in the use of these systems in their legal research and writing course during the fall semester. All students interested in additional basic or advanced training should inquire of the reference librarians or the academic and student representatives of both companies. The student representatives keep regular hours which are posted in the labs.
Lexis-Nexis® and Westlaw® training brochures, guides and directories are available in all of the library computer labs.
