    Professor David Reiss' policy analysis, "Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and the Future of Federal Housing Finance Policy: A Study of Regulatory Privilege," was published by the Cato Institute. In the article, Professor Reiss assesses Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac's roles in the context of regulatory theory. He argues that ultimately the mortgage giants should be privatized so as to better compete with other lenders, while its public functions should be absorbed by the government.
