09.12.13 Brooklyn the “Borough of Kings” in Upcoming Election, Says New York Times
    harlem

The New York Times today strongly echoed sentiments expressed in the cover story of the Spring Issue of LawNotes, “Greetings from the New Brooklyn”, which paid homage to this booming borough by profiling the alumni who have played key roles in propelling Brooklyn forward and who have worked to transform it into such a noteworthy neighborhood.

“Brooklyn has its own sports team, its own branded beer and a clothing line, and has been leading New York in job growth and population in recent years,” wrote Sam Roberts in the Times article, titled “In Primaries, Brooklyn Emerged as Big Winner.”

Looking to the upcoming election, Roberts wrote: “On Tuesday night, with Bill de Blasio emerging as the top vote-getter in the Democratic primary and Joseph J. Lhota winning the Republican nomination, Brooklyn moved to center stage politically in a way not seen in decades. Both candidates hail from the borough and both were propelled by constituencies that populate it. Now, Brooklyn is not only the new kingmaker, but also the borough of kings, or at least of the next mayor and the next public advocate, too. Runoff or not, for the first time in well over a century, the next mayor will be from Brooklyn.”
