The Housing Justice Clinic (HJC) coordinates the development of student attorney skills in client centered and community-based advocacy. Student attorneys work with tenant, homeowner, and local non-profit organizations to preserve housing security throughout New York City. in addition to working on tenant defense and source of income discrimination cases, students have also worked on NYC's 311 Tenant Helpline run by the Legal Aid Society, participated in preparing materials and workshops for Estate Planning, Tenant Housing Repairs, and Deed Theft. Students have also engages in policy working including lobby for and writing an Op-Ed on Transfer on Death deeds and connecting with local community groups on protecting tenant and homeowners rights in Brooklyn.
