Career counseling and resources to help graduates achieve success
Our seven attorney-counselors are available to help graduates market themselves effectively, substantially increasing your success in the job market. Individual counseling is the centerpiece of our work. During these sessions, our professional staff monitors and guides career development; helps graduates find employment; hones interviewing skills; refines resume and cover letter writing; and helps develop dynamic career strategies.
Resources
Supplementing the Career Development Center’s emphasis on individual counseling are extensive resources. Symplicity, our online jobs database, provides access to thousands of job listings and allows graduates to search for employment from practically anywhere.
Symplicity Online Job Database
The goal is to get your resume in front of an employer in record time and our Symplicity database system eases the process. Viewing post-graduate positions is as easy as using your student ID to log onto your Symplicity homepage -- a web-based job database system that allows you to:
- Review new job listings
- Upload your resume, cover letters, and unofficial transcripts
- for submission to employer listings
- Receive automatic alerts when a posted job fits your search criteria
- Stay updated on all career development events

List a Position
We welcome listings of your open positions. You may request that we collect and send resumes to you, or that we instruct the students and/or graduates to send their materials to you directly. We also accept confidential listings. The choice of listing method is yours. You may complete our online job listing form and email it to us, or fax us your own job listing description. In addition, the Career Center uses the Symplicity password protected database, through which you may register with us and list your positions directly into our password-protected database. When you list a job with us, your listing will appear in our database within 24 hours.
On-Campus Interviewing
We invite interested employers to participate in interviews on-campus through our formal Fall On-Campus Interviewing (OCI) Program, or throughout the school year. The OCI Program is sponsored in two interviewing sessions—an early interview week in mid-August, and the regular season from late August through September. We do not use a lottery system, so the choice of interviewing candidates is all yours. The registration fee is $250 regardless of how many schedules you take. The fees we collect are contributed to our scholarship fund. If you are unable to come to campus, we offer interviews via video conferencing technology through Law School Connect, or we can collect resumes for you from interested students and send them to you in one package.
Programs, Workshops and Receptions
The career information programs that we host throughout the academic year offer employers numerous opportunities to introduce themselves to Brooklyn Law School students. These include participation in one of more of our many informational or practice area programs, or our highly successful 'Getting to Know You' lunches or receptions that we host at the Law School for individual employers.
