Meet the Fellows

In recent years fellows have come to us from Bulgaria, China, Colombia, France, Guyana, Israel, Japan, Korea, Lebanon, the Netherlands, Nigeria, Russia, Sweden, Taiwan, Turkey and the United Kingdom. Many are graduates of the most prestigious colleges and universities. Some have earned graduate degrees, and many have had interesting work experiences here and abroad.

Marshall Bergstresser

BergstresserMarshall Bergstresser graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a B.S. in Psychology and a B.A. in Anthropology. During his undergrad, Marshall interned for an Immigration non-profit and got his first real experience with the law. This inspired Marshall to pursue a legal career and understand how laws around the world drive both economic and social movements. At Brooklyn Law School, he is a member of Brooklyn Law Review and a recipient of the Prince Merit Scholarship and the Lark-Barranco Diversity Scholarship. This past summer, Marshall interned at a private immigration firm in the city and is currently an intern for the Honorable Arun Subramanian in the Southern District of New York.

Samantha Buckley

BuckleySamantha Buckley is a graduate of Boston University with a B.A. in History, focusing on East Asian and British history, and a minor in Korean Language & Culture. She studied abroad in London while pursuing her degree and worked for a legal education non-profit there. Prior to law school, Samantha spent a year working in compliance at a pharmaceutical company before moving to South Korea to teach English at a public school through the EPIK program. Following her 1L year, Samantha interned at Black Veterans for Social Justice where she worked for the Legal & Compliance department. Samantha is also a member of the Brooklyn Journal of International Law.

Paige Cook
Paige CookPaige Cook is a first-generation student and was the first in her family to graduate from high school. She graduated from Saint Louis University with a B.A. in Political Science, French, and International Studies with a concentration in International Affairs. At Saint Louis University, Paige contributed to the National Democratic Erosion Consortium and their Event Dataset, focusing on the consolidation of democracy in Tunisia. After graduating, she joined Teach for America under the AmeriCorps national service network. During that time, she graduated from Relay Graduate School for Education with Distinction and received her M.A. in Teaching, with dual certificates in General Education and Special Education, and with a concentration in Mathematics. As a part-time student, Paige continues teaching high school in Brooklyn, for the NYC Department of Education, and spends her weekends managing a restaurant in the Park Slope neighborhood. During her 1L summer, Paige was a legal intern for the United States Department of Justice, Executive Office for Immigration Review, at the New York Varick Court for the Honorable Assistant Chief Immigration Judge Ubaid Ul-Haq, where she drafted judicial orders pertaining to asylum cases. She is also a recipient of the Lisle Scholarship.  
Alicia (Tianqi) Ding

Alicia (Tianqi) DingAlicia (Tianqi) Ding was born and raised in China and graduated from Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics with a Bachelor of Laws degree. During her undergraduate studies, Alicia was awarded the First-Class Honor Scholarship and earned third place in the 11th International Air Law Moot Court Competition. After graduation, she worked as a Legal Assistant at a Finnish technology legal consulting company, focusing on foreign investment law and intellectual property. Alicia is dedicated to advancing the rights of women and children. Last summer, as a Catalyst fellowship recipient, she interned at the New York Legal Assistance Group - Domestic Violence Law Unit. Alicia is also a Staff Editor for the Brooklyn Journal of International Law and aims to focus her studies on international business law.

Ann Fiore
Ann FioreAnn Fiore holds a B.A. in Classics and minors in Political Science and Anthropology from the University of Miami. Her academic journey was enriched by a study abroad experience in Paris, France. Prior to law school, Ann dedicated herself to education, serving as an English Literacy Instructor under the Archbishop of the Solomon Islands. Since then, she has been working as a Latin teacher on Long Island, a role she has balanced with her first year at Brooklyn Law School. Ann is eager to combine her interest in international economic law with her service and educational background. 
Max Khadduri

Max KhadduriMax Khadduri graduated from Tulane University with a B.A. in Political Economics. After graduating, he worked as a paralegal at a mid-sized law firm in Boston and a telecom company in New Jersey. During his 1L summer, Max worked as a litigation intern at law firm Eisenberg & Baum, primarily working on civil rights matters. Max is a member of Brooklyn Law Review and the Phi Delta Phi Legal Honor Society. He is also a recipient of the Prince Merit Scholarship.

Philipine Mariaud

Philipine MariaudPhilipine Mariaud is a first-generation immigrant, who grew up in a French-speaking household in New York City. She graduated from SUNY Binghamton with a B.A. in Philosophy, Politics and Law, and a minor in Spanish Language. At Brooklyn Law School, she is a member of Brooklyn Law Review and the Moot Court Honor Society Appellate Division, she will be competing in the Philip C. Jessup International Law Competition this coming year.

This past summer, Philipine was an extern for the Honorable Consuelo Mallafre Melendez in New York Supreme Court. In the fall, she will be interning for the Honorable Claire R. Kelly in the United States Court of International Trade. Next summer, Philipine will be joining Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer as a summer associate in their New York office.

Mollie Rouan

Mollie RouanMollie Rouan graduated from Wake Forest University cum laude with a B.A. in Politics & International Affairs and a minor in Middle East and South Asia Studies. At Brooklyn Law School, she is a member of the Journal of Corporate, Financial, and Commercial Law. She is also a recipient of the Carswell Merit Scholarship, a member of the Phi Delta Phi Legal Honor Society, and earned CALI Excellence for the Future Awards in Gateway to Lawyering I and Gateway to Lawyering II. This past summer, Mollie was a legal intern at the New York State Office of the Attorney General in the Investor Protection Bureau. Mollie looks forward to joining Ropes & Gray LLP as a 2025 Summer Associate in the New York office.

Divya Sethi

Divya SethiDivya Sethi graduated from the University of Virginia with a B.S. in Finance, with a track in Global Commerce. At Brooklyn Law School, Divya is a recipient of the Richardson Scholarship. Divya is a member of the Brooklyn Journal of International Law and serves as the treasurer for the South Asian Law Students Association. This past summer, Caroline was an intern for Martin Clearwater and Bell and a recipient of the New York State Bar Association (Health Law Section) Fellowship. Next summer, Divya will be joining Venable as a Summer Associate in their New York Office.

Will Anderson
Will AndersonWill Anderson graduated from Olivet University with a B.A. in Theology.  Prior to law school, he owned a Christian digital media network that he and his team grew from a few thousand views per month to over 4,000,000 U.S. monthly unique visitors according to Comscore (with many millions more globally) and over 10,000,000 social media followers.  The network grew to encompass the Religion/Spirituality category-leading websites in the U.S., U.K., China, Korea, and Japan, with affiliates in dozens of other countries and 100 websites in total.  The influential nature of media opened doors for him to engage in many high-level humanitarian discussions, including with a delegation at the United Nations to address critical global priorities, and with leaders of the Religious Liberty Partnership in Oxford to advance universal human rights—especially freedom of religion.  Will received several awards during his first year of law school, including five CALI Awards for Academic Excellence in Contracts I, Legal Process I, Civil Procedure I & II, and Property I.  He was on the Dean's List, law review, and ranked in the top 3% of his class before he received the opportunity to transfer to Brooklyn Law School to focus on international business law.  At BLS, he is a member of the Brooklyn Journal of International Law.  He currently works at Anderson and Associates as a law clerk and business development manager.  There, he assists international, business, and immigration clients on legal matters and works with the Managing Principal to define and further the vision, mission, and values of the firm.  He also conceptualized and co-founded the law firm's pro-bono initiative.  Will aspires to become a preeminent legal advisor in the interwoven areas of international, business, and immigration law, and to engage with business, humanitarian, and thought leaders as an entrepreneurial lawyer and global strategist.
Nick Biblis
Nick BiblisNick Biblis graduated from Towson University with a B.S. in Cultural Anthropology. After graduating, he worked as a travel blogger in Southeast Asia, on a U.S. congressional campaign, and in digital marketing. Prior to joining law school, he lived in Jakarta, Indonesia, where he was the head of the Advancement and Communications Department at Jakarta Intercultural School. During his 1L summer, Nick worked as a judicial intern for the Honorable Barbara Moses, U.S. Magistrate Judge in the Southern District of New York. Nick is a member of Brooklyn Law Review and the Phi Delta Phi Legal Honor Society. He is also a recipient of the Carswell Scholarship and is a Block Judicial Intern Fellow.
Emma Fuchs
Emma FuchsEmma Fuchs graduated from Loyola University Maryland with a B.A. in Political Science and a minor in Marketing. At Brooklyn Law School, she is a member of the Moot Court Honor Society Appellate Division and will be competing in the Philip C. Jessup International Law Competition this coming year. She is also a recipient of the Carswell Merit Scholarship and a member of the Phi Delta Phi Legal Honor Society. This past summer, Emma interned for the Honorable Claire R. Kelly in the United States Court of International Trade.
Elizabeth Gemdjian
Elizabeth GemdjianElizabeth Gemdjian graduated from Columbia University with a B.A. in anthropology and a concentration in linguistics and received her Master’s in interdisciplinary social sciences from the École Normale Supérieure in Paris. Before law school, Elizabeth led business development and marketing at Group Gordon, a boutique strategic communications firm. Elizabeth is a recipient of the Prince Scholarship, a staff member on the Brooklyn Law Review, and an executive board member of Legal Hackers and the Center for Urban Business Entrepreneurship (CUBE). She earned the CALI Excellence for the Future Award in Legal Writing & Research, Criminal Law, Civil Procedure, Property, and Gateway to Lawyering: Law & Information. Elizabeth was a 2023 summer associate at Davis+Gilbert, will be a judicial intern for the Honorable Valerie E. Caproni in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York in the fall, and will be joining Latham & Watkins as a 2024 summer associate. Elizabeth hopes to leverage her interest in international law to work with emerging companies that are expanding into new markets.
Alexandra Mallory

Alexandra MalloryAlexandra Mallory graduated cum laude from the University of South Carolina with a B.A. in Political Science and a minor in Business Administration. During her undergraduate studies, she participated in the Capstone Scholar Program, setting goals, tackling personal challenges, and engaging in community service each semester. She also studied abroad for a semester at the American Business School of Paris, collaborating on business projects with peers from six continents. Prior to law school, Alexandra spent a year working as an Au Pair in Stockholm, Sweden. At Brooklyn Law School, she was awarded the Lisle Merit Scholarship and currently serves as the Editor-in-Chief of the Brooklyn Journal of International Law. As a Block Center Fellow, Alexandra is eager to connect with leading scholars and practitioners in the field of international business law.

Zoe Mazzu
Zoe Mazzu (she/her) graduated cum laude from the University of Tennessee with B.A.’s Sociology; Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies; and Italian. During her undergraduate career, she studied Italian language abroad in Bologna, Italy. She also completed an international research project, La Leggenda del Borgo, through a partnership with a group of students in Roseto degli Abruzzo, Italy. During her 1L summer, Zoe worked as a law clerk at a general practice firm, Alter and Barbaro. Zoe is also an Alternative Dispute Resolution honor society member, a staff editor for the Brooklyn Journal of International Law, and serving as the Vice President of Marketing for the Intellectual Property Law Association for the 2023 - 2024 school year. 
Kevyn McConlogue

Kevyn McConlogueKevyn McConlogue graduated from Lehigh University in 2019 with a B.A. in International Relations and minors in Global Studies and Religion. Before law school, Kevyn served in the Peace Corps in Morocco as a Youth Development Specialist. In this role, Kevyn worked directly with members of the community to create sustainable and culturally sensitive programming that everyone could have access to. Kevyn is the Inter-journal Committee Representative for Brooklyn Journal of International Law. Her note is to be published in Spring 2025. She is also a member of the Phi Delta Phi Honor Society, Co-Chair of Asylum Relief Project, and Pro Bono Chair of Brooklyn Law Immigration Society. Kevyn currently works as a Law Clerk and MacMurray & Associates where her primary focus is complex trial and appellate immigration matters.

Charlie Mitchell
Charlie MitchellCharlie Mitchell attended Franklin & Marshall College, where he graduated with a B.A. in Business. At Brooklyn Law School, Charlie is a recipient of the Lisle Scholarship and earned a CALI Excellence for the Future Award in Criminal Law. This past summer, Charlie was an extern for the Honorable Martin Glenn in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York. Next summer, Charlie will be joining Weil, Gotshal & Manges as a summer associate in their New York office.
John Overbeck

John OverbeckJohn Overbeck’s interest in international business law was kindled in the International Law and International Trade Law classes led by Professor Stratos Pahis that he took during his 2L year. While he was initially more interested in the political/diplomatic side of international law, Professor Pahis’s Trade Law class really opened his eyes to the ways in which trade and business serve as the primary mechanisms which bind different national economies to one another in the interest of lasting peace. He is now interning for Judge Claire R. Kelly at the U.S. Court of International Trade as part of his pursuit of a career in trade law, and very much looks forward to participating in this Fellowship and collaborating with his fellow students over the course of his 3L year.

Natalia Perez-Flores

Natalia Perez Flores.Natalia Perez-Flores is a third-year student at Brooklyn Law School. She is the Co-President of the Intellectual Property Law Association, and an Executive Notes Editor of the Brooklyn Journal of International Law. Her student note, The Starving Artist: What the U.S. Can Learn About Equitable Remuneration from Artist-Centric Dutch Legislation, is forthcoming publication. Additionally, she is a member of the Alternative Dispute Resolution Honor Society and was named Best Advocate at the 2023 Cardozo Invitational Negotiation on Entertainment, Medial, and Art (CINEMA). During her time at Brooklyn Law School, she has interned with the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers (ASCAP), Atlantic Recording Company, and Kuhn Law Group, PLLC. Natalia is also a member of the International Association of Entertainment Lawyers (IAEL). Her article, A Survey of Current U.S. Regulation of Generative AI Technology Affecting Creative Industries, will be published in the IAEL’s annual book, The AI Revolution—The International Legal Perspective. In October 2024, she will be a panelist at the IAEL’s Annual Summit in Amsterdam.

Dianna Peña

Dianna PenaDianna Peña holds a B.A. in Environmental Studies with minors in Politics, Public Policy, and Management from New York University. At NYU, Dianna wrote her honors thesis analyzing the evolving political climate in Colombia following the 2016 peace accord and studied abroad in Madrid, Spain. After graduating, Dianna joined Make the Road New York as an immigration paralegal where she assisted individuals in their DACA, naturalization, u-visas, and asylum processes. During her 1L summer, Dianna was a volunteer legal intern for the Miami-Dade Public Defender’s office where she enhanced her research and writing skills. In her 2L year, Dianna continued to enhance these skills as a member of the Brooklyn Journal of International Law and through her judicial internship with the Honorable Ann M. Donnelly in the Eastern District of New York. Dianna recently spent her 2L summer at Katten Muchin Rosenman where she will return as a First Year Associate after graduation.

Keara Schmeiser
Keara SchmeiserKeara Schmeiser graduated cum laude from Georgetown University’s Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service with a BS in Science, Technology, and International Affairs. As an undergraduate, she was a member of the Georgetown Women’s NCAA Division I Rowing Team, was elected co-captain for her senior year, and studied abroad in Japan. Upon graduation, she worked at Deutsche Bank as an Assistant Vice President and Trader within the Agency Securities Lending Group. She completed an internship with the Asia Society Policy Institute, and most recently completed a judicial internship with the Honorable Claire R. Kelly’s chambers at the U.S. Court of International Trade. She is a staff member on the Brooklyn Journal of International Law, a recipient of the Carswell Scholarship, and a member of the Phi Delta Phi Legal Honor Society.
Kyle Suba Crawford
Kyle Suba CrawfordKyle Suba Crawford graduated from Syracuse University in 2013 with a B.S. in Communications and minors in Marketing and Spanish. Before law school she worked at General Motors, where she held several positions throughout the communications division. Most recently, Kyle served as Silverado Communications Lead. In this role, Kyle was responsible for guiding Chevrolet’s global Communications teams through several new product launches, including the Silverado EV, the brand’s first-ever electric pickup truck. Kyle is a recipient of the Prince Merit Scholarship and serves as a staff member on the Brooklyn Journal of International Law. She is also a member of the Alternative Dispute Resolution Honor Society, the Phi Delta Phi Honor Society, and is the Bankruptcy Co-Chair of Brooklyn Business Law. Next summer, Kyle will be joining Mayer Brown as a summer associate in their New York office.  
Noah Yuro

Noah YuroNoah Yuro graduated cum laude from the University of Richmond with a B.A. in French and Italian Studies. As an undergraduate, he was a member of Richmond’s NCAA Division I Men’s Cross Country and Track and Field Team, serving as captain during his senior year, and studied abroad in La Rochelle, France. At Brooklyn Law School, Noah is a recipient of the Dean’s Merit Scholarship and is pursuing a Certificate in International Law. He is also a member of the Alternative Dispute Resolution Honor Society and was elected Co-President of the International Law Society. Noah completed an internship with NYC’s Administration for Children’s Services in the Business Law Unit and most recently completed a judicial internship with the Honorable Claire R. Kelly’s chambers at the U.S. Court of International Trade. In the Fall 2024 semester, he will be interning with the U.S. Commercial Service of the International Trade Administration in New York City.

Jazmyne Barto
Jazmyne Barto graduated summa cum laude from West Chester University of Pennsylvania with a B.S. in International Business, minor in Business Law, and completion of the Honors Seminar Program. While obtaining her undergraduate degree, she spent a semester studying at the Grenoble Ecole de Management in Grenoble, France where she earned a certificate in Global Management. Jazmyne is currently the Managing Editor of the Brooklyn Journal of Corporate, Financial & Commercial Law and a member of Phi Delta Phi Legal Honor Society. She spent her 1L Summer as a compliance intern with Scotiabank specializing in risk assessments. She recently spent her 2L Summer as a summer associate at Goodwin Procter in their Business Law Department, where she will return as a First Year Associate upon graduation.
Daniel Elsen-Rooney
Daniel Elsen-Rooney Daniel Elsen-Rooney graduated from the George Washington University, where he earned a B.A. in Spanish and International Affairs, with a regional concentration in Latin America. Before law school, he was an analyst for a Washington, D.C.-based due diligence and risk intelligence firm. Daniel is a Prince Scholarship recipient and a member of the Brooklyn Law Review and the Phi Delta Phi Honors Society. During his 1L summer, Daniel was a legal intern in the criminal division of the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York. In the fall, he will be interning for the Honorable Kiyo A. Matsumoto in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York.
Jillian Horowitz
Jillian HorowitzJillian Horowitz graduated from McGill University in Montreal, Canada. While there, she earned her bachelor's degree in Honours Political Science. She is currently a member of the Phi Delta Phi Honor Society and is an Associate Managing Editor on Brooklyn Law Review. Jillian spent the summer of her 1L year working as a summer associate at Travelers Insurance Company. During her 2L year, Jillian interned for the Honorable Judge Nicholas G. Garaufis in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York. She was also a research assistant for Professor William D. Araiza and Professor Neil B. Cohen. Jillian spent her 2L summer working at Kennedys Law LLP. As a 3L, she will be a judicial intern for the Honorable Judge Lorna G. Schofield in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, and will also be a member of the 2023-2024 Vis International Commercial Arbitration Team. After law school, Jillian will be joining Patterson Belknap Webb & Tyler LLP as a litigation associate.
David Kamins
David KaminsDavid Kamins graduated from Muhlenberg College with a double major in Neuroscience and Philosophy. After graduating, he worked as a senior consultant at the management consulting firm Guidehouse, in the global compliance and investigations practice. While at Guidehouse, David supervised a team of 15 analysts responsible for conducting fraud investigations for the SBA's Paycheck Protection Program during the COVID-19 pandemic. David also worked on an international project in London conducting due diligence reviews of investors into a blockchain technology.  At law school, David is currently an Executive Articles Editor of the Brooklyn Journal of Corporate, Financial & Commercial Law.  Additionally, David was a judicial intern for the Honorable Rosemary Gambardella in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of New Jersey in the Spring of 2023.  This past summer, David was a legal intern at the IRS Chief Counsel's Office in the Large Business International Division in New York, New York. David will be returning to the Chief Counsel's Office as an honor's hire in the fall of 2024. 
Leah Kates
Leah Kates graduated from the University of Miami with a B.A. in Political Science and Psychology. After graduating, she worked as a paralegal at O’Melveny & Myers LLP on a variety of litigation and corporate related matters. Throughout her second year of law school, Leah worked as a judicial intern to the Honorable Elizabeth S. Stong in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court E.D.N.Y., as well as worked as a Teaching Assistant to Dean Joy Kanwar’s Legal Research and Writing course. This past summer, she worked at K&L Gates LLP as a summer associate. Leah is also an Executive Articles Editor for the Journal of Corporate, Financial & Commercial Law.
Ali Rawaf
Ali RawafAli Rawaf came to Brooklyn Law School after working as an investigative journalist with the CBS news program 60 Minutes. Ali’s Emmy Award-winning work included major news stories on U.S. politics, foreign policy, cyber warfare, and Middle Eastern affairs. Ali grew up in Baghdad and immigrated to the U.S. after the Iraq War through a State Department scholarship. He graduated with special honors in Government from the University of Texas at Austin. During law school, Ali worked as a legal fellow at the New York Office of the State Attorney General, a judicial extern for the Honorable Stewart Aaron at the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, and a summer associate at Emery Celli Brinckerhoff Abady Ward & Maazel LLP. Ali is a member of the Phi Delta Phi Legal Honor Society and the Alternative Dispute Resolution Honor Society and has earned a Cali Excellence for the Future Award in Telecommunications Law. He serves as an editor for the Brooklyn Sports and Entertainment Blog and president of the American Constitution Society. He currently works as a law clerk at a media law firm. 
Bea Rubin
Bea Rubin Bea Rubin attended McGill University, where she graduated with a B.A. in English. Before law school, she worked at Civic Entertainment Group where she led and advised communications and marketing strategies for Ford Motor Company, working across their global offices as Ford transformed their approach to their business. In particular, Bea worked closely with the customer experience team to conceptualize and convey Ford’s messages to a global audience of employees, customers, dealers, and suppliers. Bea also worked at Atlantic Records in the promotion department where she helped launch and promote Grammy-award-winning record albums. At Brooklyn Law School, she has received the Prince Scholarship and is currently a member of the Brooklyn Law Review and Moot Court, Appellate Division for which she is competing in the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition. In addition, Bea is a research assistant for Professor Anita Bernstein for whom she conducts medical and sociological research related to Professor Bernstein’s upcoming book proposal. Bea interned for Honorable Ann M. Donnelly at the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York in the summer of 2022.
David Sacasa-Ospina
David Sacasa-Ospina David Sacasa-Ospina graduated from Florida International University with a B.A. in Political Science and International Relations. Prior to attending law school, he assisted lawyers at Alcoba Law Group in trademark prosecution and patent drafting. At law school, he served as a 1L delegate for Brooklyn Law’s Latin American Law Student Association. David is a member of the Brooklyn Journal of International Law and a recipient of the Prince Scholarship and Lark-Barranco Scholarship. This past summer, David worked as an immigration intern at Pollack, Pollack, Isaac, & DeCicco.
Jordan Siskind-Weiss
Jordan Siskind-Weiss attended Davidson College from which she received her B.A., cum laude, in English. Before law school, she lived and worked in Tokyo, Japan, for over three years through the JET Program as an English teacher. Prior to and while living in Japan, Jordan wrote articles for publication in a variety of online magazines that focus on international travel, culture, and politics, including Roads and Kingdoms and Metropolis Magazine. After returning to the U.S. from Japan, she worked as a corporate paralegal at Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton, and Garrison. At Brooklyn Law School, she received the Carswell Merit Scholarship and is currently a member of the Brooklyn Journal of International Law and the Alternative Dispute Resolution Honor Society. After graduation, Jordan will be working at Weil, Gotshal and Manges as an Associate in the firm's Complex Commercial Litigation practice group.
Stephanie Stern
Stephanie SternStephanie Stern graduated from the University of Delaware with B.A.’s in Criminal Justice and Psychology and two minors in legal studies and sociology. During her undergraduate career, she was a member of UD’s World Scholars program, through which she studied abroad in Rome, Italy, Cape Town, South Africa, and Rousseau, Dominica. During her 1L summer, Stephanie worked as a legal intern at the New York Supreme Court, Appellate Division, Second Department. Stephanie is also a Moot Court Honor Society member, a staff member of the Brooklyn Journal of Corporate, Financial, & Commercial Law, and a member of the Phi Delta Phi Legal Honor Society. Allison Toner Allison Toner graduated from the University of Richmond in 2016 with a B.A. in Psychology and Political Science and a concentration in international relations. Prior to starting law school, Allison worked in the fashion and retail industry, and as a part-time student, Allison is currently continuing her career at a retail technology company, where she manages client relationships with major global retailers. Allison is a recipient of the Prince Merit Scholarship and serves as a staff member on the Brooklyn Law Review. She is also a member of the Phi Delta Phi Legal Honor Society and is a 1L Delegate for the Fashion Law Society and for the Legal Association for Women. She earned the CALI Excellence for the Future Award in Gateway to Lawyering: Legal Writing & Research. Kathryn Daly
Kathryn Daly Kathryn A. Daly attended the University of Southern California and SUNY Purchase as an undergraduate, where she graduated summa cum laude with a B.A. in Playwriting and Screenwriting. After graduating, she worked as a financial services paralegal at Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft, later returning as a rising 2L summer intern. Kathryn entered Brooklyn Law on the Carswell Merit Scholarship. At law school, she served as a 1L delegate for LegalHackers: a global movement of lawyers, policymakers, designers, technologists, and academics who explore and develop creative solutions to some of the most pressing issues at the intersection of law and technology. She later competed in the 8th Annual Stanley M. Grossman Innovators Invitational at the Center For Urban Business Entrepreneurship, where she and her partner presented an app targeting severe maternal morbidity. She is also a member of the Brooklyn Journal of Corporate, Financial & Commercial Law. Outside of law school, she is a member of the New York Junior League, a nonprofit working with more than 60 community-based organizations to strengthen the health and well-being of the children and families of the greater New York City area.

Peter Enia Peter Enia graduated from the State University of New York at New Paltz with a B.A. in Political Science and a minor in Law and Politics. During his undergraduate career, he had the opportunity of studying abroad at Kingston University in London, United Kingdom, and graduated at the top of his major. During his first year in law school, Peter earned the CALI Excellence for the Future Award in Contracts. This past summer, Peter was a summer associate at Fragomen, Del Rey, Bernsen & Loewy, LLP, where he also worked two years prior before starting his legal education at Brooklyn Law School. Currently, Peter is working as a legal intern for the New York Civil Court Consumer Law Externship. Harrie (Eun Byul) Im
Im Harrie (Eun Byul) Im is from Seoul, South Korea. She graduated from Emory University with a B.A. in Political Science with two study abroad opportunities in China and Japan. She also received a dual degree in Master of Intellectual Property and LL.M. from Korea Institute of Science and Technology and Northwestern Law School. After finishing her LL.M., Harrie became a member of the Washington D.C. bar. She is currently a member of Phi Delta Phi Honors Society and Brooklyn Journal of International Law and is a recipient of the Richardson Scholarship and Dean’s Merit Scholarship. This past summer, she worked as a summer associate at Labaton Sucharow. This fall, Harrie will be working as a research assistant for Dean Porter on improving diversity and inclusion efforts at Brooklyn Law School while serving as the Communications Director for Student Animal Legal Defense Fund.

Thia Paruchuru Thia Paruchuru is from London, UK. Before joining Brooklyn Law School, she attended the University of Pittsburgh, where she earned degrees in Philosophy and Neuroscience. Thia is currently a member of the Brooklyn Journal of International Law, Phi Delta Phi Honors Society, and the Appellate Division of the Moot Court Honor Society. She will be competing in the Saul Lefkowitz Moot Court Competition this coming year. Walker S. Shockley Walker S. Shockley attended Brown University, where he graduated with an A.B. concentrating in political theory. Before law school, he worked in business development for the international law firm, Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP. In that role, he helped partners in Freshfields’ US-based litigation and global investigations practices to grow relationships with US and non-US clients, including leading multinational corporations navigating complex, cross-border business challenges. Walker has also worked for a consumer-packaged goods startup and for a financial services firm. At Brooklyn Law School, he has received the Carswell Merit Scholarship and is currently a member of the Brooklyn Journal of International Law. He also participates in Brooklyn Law School’s LGBTQ+ Advocacy Clinic.

Prior to attending law school, she worked as a reporter for various media outlets and as an analyst at an industry market research company. Bernie Toledano
Bernie ToledanoBernie Toledano graduatedfrom the Johns Hopkins University with a B.A. in History and minor in Jewish Studies in 2012 and received her M.B.A. from the Quantic School of Business and Technology in 2017. Prior to starting law school, Bernie worked in marketing for five years, most recently as the Head of Marketing at a legal technology start-up. Bernie is an Executive Articles Editor of the Brooklyn Law Review and a recipient of the Prince Merit Scholarship and Dean’s Merit Scholarship. She has earned CALI Excellence for the Future Awards in International Litigation, Gateway: Law and Business, and Legal Research & Writing. In addition, Bernie is a research assistant for Professor Roberta Karmel, whom she helps research securities regulation issues. Bernie has interned for the Honorable Judge Susan D. Wigenton in the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey and BetterCloud, a technology company. Taylor Bates
Taylor Bates Taylor Bates is a first generation law student and college graduate. She attended Kansas State University where she earned her Bachelor of Arts in political science, with a secondary major in international relations, and an emphasis on international economics. She was also a founding member of the Kansas State’s Model United Nations team and served as Head Delegate. Prior to attending Brooklyn Law School, Taylor worked as a corporate paralegal for a midsize law firm on Wall Street, where she assisted attorneys and major financial institutions with complex financial transactions in the United States and the United Kingdom. At Brooklyn, Taylor is an Executive Article Submissions Editor for the Brooklyn Journal of International Law. Her note, analyzing changes in South Africa’s attitude towards international investment arbitration, will be published in the journal’s 46th issue. Committed to giving back, Taylor has previously interned with the Veteran Advocacy Project, a nonprofit committed to assisting low-income and mentally ill veterans with discharge upgrades and obtain VA benefits. She has also assisted in an affirmative asylum case with Brooklyn Law School’s Safe Harbor Clinic. Outside of law school, her interests include growing exotic houseplants. She is currently working towards obtaining her certification to teach trauma-informed yoga.
Benjamin D. Black
Benjamin BlackBenjamin D. Black graduated from Penn State University with B.A.s in Asian Studies and International Politics alongside a Master’s Degree in International Affairs. While at Penn State, Ben was a U.S. Department of Education Foreign Language and Area Studies Fellow, he studied in Dalian, China, and conducted research in Beijing for his thesis: Incidents in the South China Sea: Exploring the Chinese Perspective of the Disputes. He spent a summer working for the U.S.-ASEAN Business Council in Washington, D.C. and was an intern for the Hon. George B. Daniels this past summer in the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York. This year, Ben is a staff member of the Brooklyn Law Review, on Moot Court Society’s appellate division for the Jessup International Law Competition, and an intern for Ween & Kopek, which represents tenants under New York’s Loft Law. Ben will be a summer associate at Sullivan & Cromwell for the upcoming summer.
Michael Cooper
Michael Cooper graduated from the University of Michigan with a B.A. in Political Science. Prior to attending law school, he worked primarily as a writer and editor for both legacy and digital media outlets. He has previously worked as a legal intern for the Special Counsel for Public Integrity in the Office of Governor Andrew M. Cuomo, as a judicial intern in the District of New Jersey and at the U.S. Court of International Trade, and as a research and teaching assistant for Prof. Robin Effron. Semyon Davydov
Semyon DavydovSemyon Davydov is a Russian immigrant who moved to Brooklyn, New York. He attended Brooklyn Technical High School and upon graduation, attended Bernard M. Baruch College, City University of New York (CUNY). He also enrolled into the Army Reserve Officer Training Corps at City College (CUNY), and simultaneously enlisted into the New York Army National Guard. In 2016 he was sent to Vilnius, Lithuania, where he helped the Lithuanian Ministry of National Defense officers and civilian personnel develop their English-speaking capabilities under the Army Cultural Understanding and Language Program. Upon his return, he volunteered to serve under Joint Task Force Empire Shield and provided armed security to John F. Kennedy International Airport in response to the 2016 New York and New Jersey bombings. He was also a member of the New York Army National Guard Military Funeral Honors program, where he conducted military funeral honors for NY’s recently departed veterans. He graduated from Baruch College in 2017, earning a B.A in Political Science with a minor in Law and Policy. Upon graduation, he was awarded with a commission as a Military Police Officer in the United States Army Reserve. He completed his military education at the United States Army Military Police School at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, graduating in 2018. At Brooklyn Law School, Semyon was selected to be a member of the Brooklyn Journal of International Law and spent his summer working for NYC’s Office of Administrative Trials and Hearings (OATH), Appellate Division.
Elise Dee
Elise Dee Elise Dee graduated from The Pratt Institute with a B.F.A. in Apparel Design. Prior to attending law school, she worked in the fashion industry for 10 years as an apparel designer and creative production manager for retail windows and pop-up shops. Throughout her second year of law school, Elise worked as a legal intern for the Federal Trade Commission’s Northeast Regional Office. This past summer, she worked for Lowey Dannenberg where she focused on class action litigation of antitrust, securities and data breach matters. She has previously worked as a legal intern at the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association and as a judicial intern for the Honorable Paul Gardephe in the Southern District of New York. After her first year of law school, Kaitlyn served as a judicial intern for District Judge Ann M. Donnelly in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York. During her second year, Kaitlyn worked as an honors intern for the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. Kaitlyn currently works as a research assistant for Professor Bradley Borden and concentrates her research on limited liability entity law and partnership taxation. Kaitlyn is also a staff member for the Journal of Corporate, Financial and Commercial Law. Veronica Dunlop

Veronica Dunlop graduated from Northeastern University with a B.A. in English Literature, and Spanish Language and Culture. She attended her first two years of college at the Madrid campus of Suffolk University. At Brooklyn Law School, Veronica has earned CALI Excellence for the Future Awards in Legal Writing and International Investment Law and Arbitration. Veronica is also a member of both the Brooklyn Journal of International Law and the Moot Court Honors Society, Appellate Division. In 2019 she competed in the Price International Media Law Moot, finishing as a finalist, and in 2020 she will compete in the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot. Over the summer of 2019, Veronica worked as a Summer Associate at Ferrere, in Asunción, Paraguay.

Travis B. Elliott
Travis B. ElliottTravis B. Elliott graduated from Elon University with a B.S in communications. While at Elon, he studied abroad in San Juan, Costa Rica as part of an international business and Spanish immersion program. Prior to attending law school, Travis taught English as a Second Language to middle and high school students. He first taught in Northern Thailand and after returning to the United States, in Brooklyn as a New York City Teaching Fellow. Travis was a judicial intern for the Honorable Victor Marrero in the United States District Court, Southern District of New York, where he was honored as a Block Judicial Intern Fellow for his work with Judge Marrero. He is the recipient of the Prince Merit Scholarship and is a member of the Dean’s List. Travis is a Notes Editor of the Brooklyn Law Review, a member of the Phi Delta Phi Legal Honor Society, and a competing member of the Moot Court Honors Society, Appellate Advocacy division. Following his second year, Travis was a summer associate at Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton and he will be returning to Cleary following graduation.
Abigayle Erickson
Abigayle Erickson graduated from the State University of New York, College at Geneseo with a B.A. in Communication and minor in Biology. Prior to attending law school, she worked in Human Resources at the Bronx District Attorney’s Office. During her 1L summer she worked at the New York State Inspector General’s Office. During her 2L year, Abigayle participated in the Safe Harbor Project clinic in the fall and stayed on as a research assistant in the Spring. She assisted with the publication of a paper detailing immigration detention conditions for foreign-born New Yorkers. This past summer, Abigayle interned with the United States Air Force Legal Operations Agency in the Commercial Litigation Field Support Center. She competed in the Philip C. Jessup moot court competition this past spring and is excited coach the Jessup team this year. Abigayle is also the Managing Editor of the Brooklyn Journal of International Law.
Sophia Farruggia
Sophia FarruggiaSophia Farruggia graduated from Johns Hopkins University with a B.A. in Political Science as well as concentrations in Classics and Jewish Studies. Prior to attending law school, she spent time studying at Kings College London as well as working for ORAM, a non-governmental organization assisting LGBTI refugees and asylum seekers in Tel Aviv, Israel. During her time at Brooklyn Law School, Sophia was an Edward V. Sparer Public Interest Fellow, earned a CALI Excellence for the Future Award in Constitutional Law, and served as a Research Assistant for Professor Ressler. Sophia is a member of the Journal of Law and Policy, Phi Delta Phi Legal Honor Society, and the Moot Court Honors Society, Appellate Division. Sophia competes on the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Team and coaches the Constitutional Law team. Upon graduation this spring, Sophia will be joining Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP.
Alexandra N. Getsos
Alexandra N. GetsosAlexandra N. Getsos graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a B.A. in Neuroscience and minors in Political Science and Art History. Prior to attending law school, she worked as a corporate paralegal at Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati in midtown. This past summer, Alexandra was a summer law clerk at Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson LLP and will be returning there after graduation as a full-time associate. Alexandra is President of the Moot Court Honor Society and a Notes & Comments Editor on the Journal of Law and Policy.
Michael C. Heller
Michael C. HellerMichael C. Heller graduated from the University of Virginia with a B.A. in History. Prior to attending law school, he worked as a legal assistant at a small commercial law firm in Sag Harbor. At Brooklyn Law School, Michael is a member of the Journal of Law and Policy, a recipient of the Prince Scholarship and Dean’s Merit Scholarship, and an Alumni Co-Chair for the International Law Society. This past summer Michael was a judicial intern for the Honorable Nancy Hershey Lord in the United States Bankruptcy Court, Eastern District of New York. This fall Michael will be interning at the CPR International Institute for Conflict Prevention and Resolution.
Christopher A. Nixon
Christopher A.  NixonChristopher A. Nixon graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara, with a B.A. in Globalization Studies, during which time he spent a year abroad studying European Union law and economics at the University of Bologna. Inspired by this experience, he went on to obtain a Ph.D. at Yale in Italian literature, after having written a dissertation on Giambattista Vico, an Early Modern philosopher of law and history. At Brooklyn Law, Christopher is a member of the Brooklyn Journal of Law and Policy, and the treasurer of the Brooklyn Law School Tax Law Association. He participated in the BLS summer program in Bologna, and also interned at the Office of the Taxpayer Advocate in the New York City Department of Finance. He is now interning with Judge Gary Katzmann at the Federal Court of International Trade.
Megan Pollastro
Megan PollastroMegan Pollastro graduated from Lafayette College with a B.A. in Government and Law and Spanish with a minor in Religious Studies. As an undergraduate, Megan studied abroad in Madrid, Spain. Before law school, Megan interned at Changing Our World, a non-profit consulting company, where she communicated with organizations around the world working on projects ranging from human trafficking to environmental protection. This past summer, Megan was a summer associate at Gordon & Silber, P.C. working on medical malpractice defense litigation. She is continuing to work at Gordon & Silber throughout the year. Megan is the Vice President of the Moot Court Honor Society Appellate Division and a notes editor on the Brooklyn Law Review.
Robert Price
Robert PriceRobert Price graduated from California State University Northridge with a B.A. in English literature and spent his final year of college abroad in Swansea, Wales. Robert is a member of BLS’s Alternative Dispute Resolution Honors Society and is on the Journal of International Law. Robert is also the 2L delegate for the Criminal Rap Sheet Correction Pro-Bono project at BLS and will be heading up the student BLAST team headed to Miami over spring break. Over the upcoming summer, Robert will be a summer associate at Clifford Chance.

Grace G. Chamoun
Grace G. ChamounGrace G. Chamoun graduated summa cum laude from St. Joseph’s College with a B.A. in Political Science and Criminal Justice and a minor in Sociology. Prior to attending law school, she worked in criminal defense and interned for two non-governmental organizations at the United Nations. During her 1L summer, Grace worked at a criminal defense law firm and was a research assistant for Professor Stephen Landsman. Afterwards, she externed for Magistrate Judge Andrew Peck in the Southern District of New York. Grace is an Article Editor for the Journal of Law and Policy, is the Vice President of the Moot Court Honors Society, Appellate Division, competed on the International Criminal Court team, and has a year long clinic with the Brooklyn Federal Prosecutors Office. This past summer, Grace was a summer associate at Blank Rome, LLP, where she will return next fall as a First Year Associate.
Anna W. Chan
Anna W. ChanAnna W. Chan graduated from NYU with a B.A. in Religious Studies and Spanish. Prior to attending law school, she worked as a paralegal at New York Legal Assistance Group's LegalHealth Unit, representing disabled individuals at administrative hearings for Social Security benefits. Anna received a CALI Excellence for the Future Award in Fundamentals of Law Practice I and the Edward K. Sparer Fellowship during her 1L year. As a Sparer Fellow, she interned this past summer at the Robert L. Bernstein Institute for Human Rights at NYU School of Law. Anna is a member of the Phi Delta Phi Legal Honor Society and the Brooklyn Journal of International Law. In the upcoming summer of 2018, Anna will be a summer associate at Ropes & Gray.
Clayton J. Cosby
Clayton J. CosbyClayton J. Cosby graduated from the University of Kansas with a B.A. in Political Science. During and after college Clay worked in political organizing and policy research in Kansas, developing an interest in the intersection of people and policy. At Brooklyn Law, Clay is a member of the Brooklyn Journal of International Law and participated in a BLS summer program in Beijing. He interned at the LSNYC Bankruptcy Assistance Project and is continuing in pro-bono economic justice practice as an intern with the BLS Employment Law Clinic.
Terry M. Frederic
Terry M. FredericTerry M. Frederic is a first-generation law student of Haitian descent. Born in Brooklyn, New York, he was raised and educated in Florida, where he graduated from a magnet high school as an International Baccalaureate. He would go on to attend the University of Florida, where he majored in business management. While there, he represented the University of Florida at the International Business Ethics Case Competition and secured a first-place title for the “90-second-ethics only” presentation. He further explored his interests in philosophy, French, and hip-hop before graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration on December 2014. Since admission to Brooklyn Law, Terry has primarily been involved with the public interest community, and was selected to be an Edward V. Sparer fellow during his 1L year. Since then, he interned at the Legal Aid Society in Queens, representing low-income tenants in housing court. As a member of the Brooklyn Journal of International Law, and a newly selected fellow for the Dennis J. Block Center for the Study of International Business Law, Terry now hopes to develop his professional understanding at the intersection of international business and law – and looks forward to participating in discussions on the cutting-edge with thought leaders in the field.
Carly M. Fullam
Carly M. FullamCarly M. Fullam graduated summa cum laude from the University of Richmond with a B.S. in Business and a B.A. in Leadership Studies. Prior to attending law school, she worked as a Strategy Consultant for Deloitte Consulting LLP advising both private and public clients.   Carly is the recipient of the Prince Merit Scholarship and is a member of the Dean’s List. Carly is also a staff member on the Brooklyn Law Review. Last summer, Carly was a summer associate at Debevoise & Plimpton, LLP and will be returning to the firm upon graduation.
Christine E. Hintze
Christine E. HintzeChristine Hintze has a B.A. in International Affairs and Anthropology from Skidmore College. Christine wrote a senior thesis titled, “Ethics of the Global Trafficking of Human Organs: Considering the Local Within the Global,” exploring the ethical and legal dilemmas involved in the illicit organ trafficking trade. As an undergraduate, Christine also studied abroad in Madrid, Spain. Prior to law school, she worked a paralegal at an employment discrimination law firm. At Brooklyn Law School, Christine is a member of the Journal of Law and Policy. Christine served as a Judicial Intern for the Hon. Cathy L. Waldor at the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey last year. This past summer, Christine was a Summer Associate Intern at the international trade and customs firm Grunfeld Desiderio Lebowitz Silverman & Klestadt LLP.
Rebecca Meyer
Rebecca MeyerRebecca Meyer graduated from The Pennsylvania State University with a B.A. in Public Relations and Spanish. At Brooklyn Law School, Rebecca is a member of the Brooklyn Journal of International Law as well as the Appellate Division of the Moot Court Honor Society. On moot court, Rebecca competed during her 2L year on the Price Media Law international moot team, and this year, she is competing again as a member of the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration moot team. Rebecca has interned at a commercial and securities litigation firm and also at the United Nations in the Codification Division of the Office of Legal Affairs.
William R. Ognibene
William R. OgnibeneWilliam R. Ognibene holds a B.A. in History from Suffolk University, where he graduated magna cum laude with departmental honors. Prior to studying at Brooklyn Law, he worked full-time in museums in Boston as an interpreter and conservation associate, where he stumbled upon a research project comparing international copyright law in the 19th and 20th centuries (or, rather, it’s absence). This interest has continued on at Brooklyn Law where William was the President of the Art Law Association and spent a successful summer working on international intellectual property matters at Ropes & Gray. This year, William is pleased to be a Notes Editor for Brooklyn Law Review and a competition coach for the Moot Court Honors Society. As his career develops he hopes to continue to explore comparative international law and its intersection with the changing world of digital copyright.
Michael Tal
Michael TalMichael Tal holds a BA in Political Science (summa cum laude) from Lehman College. His senior thesis was published in the Pi Sigma Alpha Undergraduate Journal of Politics, and he presented his research at the National Conference for Undergraduate Research. This work introduced him to issues of international economics and motivated him to pursue a position on the Brooklyn Journal of International Law. Before beginning at Brooklyn Law School, Michael worked for a government relations firm and for a startup incubator, both located in New York City. This past summer, Michael interned for a non-profit specializing in social entrepreneur issues, taught law to incoming high school students, and conducted research for Professor William Araiza.
