Michael Haber

Biography

Michael Haber directs Brooklyn Law School’s Community Development and Movement Infrastructure Clinic and teaches other courses related to property, real estate, and corporate and transactional law. His scholarship focuses on affordable housing and community development, the history of voluntary associations, and the relationships between social movements, non-profit law, and the state.  

Professor Haber was previously a Clinical Professor of Law at Hofstra Law School, where he led Hofstra’s Community & Economic Development Clinic, Disaster Recovery Clinic, and Entrepreneurship & Intellectual Property Clinical Practicum. He is also a past Director of the Community & Economic Development Program at Brooklyn Legal Services Corp. A (“Brooklyn A”). He began his legal career as an Equal Justice Works fellow at Brooklyn A, where he worked on affordable housing development and exempt-organization tax issues. 

Professor Haber’s scholarship has appeared in Fordham Urban Law Journal, Washington University Journal of Law and Policy, University of Miami Law Review, Hofstra Law Review, Loyola Law Review, and the Journal of Affordable Housing & Community Development Law. In addition to his scholarship, he has also authored plain-language legal guides for social movement groups. He is a graduate of New College of Florida, Carnegie-Mellon University, and Fordham University School of Law.  Publications
