Biography
Professor Raghavan joined the Law School after a decade in the public sector. His scholarship focuses on consumer finance. His current research interests include distributional equity in financial markets and the justifications for consumer financial regulation.
Professor Raghavan previously served as Deputy Director of the Division of Financial Institutions with the Illinois Department of Financial & Professional Regulation and as Assistant Attorney General with the Consumer Fraud Bureau of the Illinois Attorney General’s Office, where he investigated and litigated violations of state and federal consumer protection laws. Before that, he completed a two-year public service fellowship with Prairie State Legal Services, where he created a clinic to provide legal assistance for low-income individuals with tax problems. He began his career as a tax associate at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom.
