Anti-Discrimination Law Seminar

This seminar explores legal protections against discrimination, focusing in particular on federal anti-discrimination statutes. We will critically analyze questions regarding notions of "minority" status, what constitutes discrimination, and competing views of the role of government to ensure equal rights for all. We will evaluate prohibitions against discrimination in different contexts, such as education, criminal justice, housing, employment, and family law. Within each of context, we will also compare and contrast the legal protections available to different groups (race, sex, disability, LGBT, language minorities and immigrants).

Grading:
Letter grade Evaluation Method: Students will write a final paper that may satisfy the Upperclass Writing Requirement.
