Clinic - Criminal Defense - Legal Aid
Students in the Criminal Defense Externship assist staff attorneys in the Brooklyn Office of the Criminal Defense Practice of The Legal Aid Society in representing indigent clients charged with misdemeanor and felony offenses. Students learn all aspects of criminal defense practice: interview and counsel clients, participate in trial strategy, research evidentiary issues, join investigators in field investigations, and interact with external service providers. The clinic includes a seminar focusing on hearing and trial litigation through simulation and interactive discussion.
