Brooklyn Law Named to Billboard Top Schools for Music Law

Brooklyn Law School has once again been named to Billboard magazine’s list of top music law schools, published in the July 22 print edition.

Billboard highlighted the Law School’s entertainment law course and workshop, as well as the certificate in intellectual property, media, and information law. The magazine also lauded the Brooklyn Entertainment & Sports Law Society and noted that the school often hosts events with a focus on the business of entertainment, for example the recent screening of the A&E series The Killing Season with documentarians Josh Zeman and Rachel Mills.

Nicole George-Middleton ‘01 of the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers, and Nneka Norville ‘01 of BET Networks, are praised by Billboard for their contributions to the entertainment industry. They were both featured in a Brooklyn Law Notes story about graduates who are powerhouses in New York City’s entertainment industry.

Billboard also named several Law School graduates to its list of Top Music Lawyers 2017. Allen Grubman ’67 of leading entertainment law firm Grubman Indursky Shire & Meiselas, and Peter Brodsky ’90 of Sony/ATV Music Publishing made the ranking once again, joined this year by Paul Schindler ’71 of Greenberg Traurig, who represents Katy Perry, and Stuart Rosen ’83, senior vice president and general counsel at music rights management giant BMI. Adjunct professor Vernon Brown, founder and owner of V. Brown & Associates, also was named to the list.
