Professor Linda Feldman Honored, Faculty Share Expertise at AALS Annual Meeting
Dean Nick Allard and Vice Dean Steven Dean led a delegation of faculty and staff from the Law School at the 112th Association of American Law Schools (AALS) Annual Meeting, Jan. 3-6, in San Diego, which drew thousands of law school faculty, deans, administrators, and scholars from around the country. A highlight of the annual gathering was the honoring of Professor Linda Feldman with the Section on Academic Support Award.
Feldman, a nationally recognized expert on issues of academic support, accepted the award via Skype when a snowstorm grounded her flight in New York City, preventing her from attending. “Not even a ‘bomb cyclone’ could stop the tribute to Linda,” said Professor Jodi Balsam, who was among the Brooklyn Law group that attended in person.
A former chair of AALS Academic Support Section, Feldman currently serves on its nominating committee. She has dedicated her career to pioneering innovative programs to help students successfully navigate the rigors of law school. She joined the faculty of Brooklyn Law School in 1988 and a year later founded its Academic Success Program, which was among the first of its kind in the nation. The goal of the program is to promote an environment of learning through the practice of the essential skills that are vital to students’ future success as lawyers.
