Professor Andrew Gold, an Expert in Corporate Law, Fiduciary Law and Private Law Theory, to Join Faculty
Brooklyn Law School has appointed Andrew Gold as professor of law. Gold, an expert in corporate law, fiduciary law, and private law theory (including contract theory, tort theory, and property theory) will be teaching at the Law School in the fall. He joins the faculty from DePaul University College of Law, where he has taught since 2004. His teaching has focused on Business Organizations, Corporate Finance, Securities Fraud, and Jurisprudence.
"I’m excited to join the distinguished faculty at Brooklyn Law School,” Gold said. “The students, faculty, and administration have an energy and an interest in the law that is second to none, and the location in the heart of Brooklyn offers so many incredible opportunities and resources. I’m very much looking forward to contributing to the Brooklyn Law School community, and I can’t wait to get started. Also, I was born in Brooklyn—so for me, this feels a lot like a homecoming."
“Professor Gold is a terrific addition to our faculty—and particularly our Center for the Study of Business Law & Regulation,” said Dean Nick Allard. “His compelling work in fiduciary law and corporate law will further enhance our position as a leader in preparing students for business practice in today’s globally connected world. I look forward to his contributions to our great tradition of advancing scholarship and teaching that has a powerful impact on the law and society.”
Gold received DePaul College of Law's Award for Excellence in Scholarship in 2007 and 2013 and the Award for Excellence in Teaching in 2010. He previously has been the Bruce W. Nichols Visiting Professor at Harvard Law School; an HLA Hart Visiting Fellow at the University of Oxford; and a Fulbright Visiting Research Chair at McGill University. He is a co-founder of the North American Workshop on Private Law Theory.
Gold writes extensively on Fiduciary and Corporate Law. His work has been published in the Northwestern University Law Review, the University of Toronto Law Journal, the William and Mary Law Review, and the Michigan Law Review, among others. He is co-editor of Philosophical Foundations of Fiduciary Law (Oxford University Press 2014), as well as several additional volumes, including: Contract, Status, and Fiduciary Law (Oxford University Press 2016); Research Handbook on Fiduciary Law (Elgar, forthcoming 2018); and Fiduciary Government (Cambridge University Press, forthcoming 2018).
