08/28/2019

For the fifth consecutive year, Brooklyn Law School has been named to Billboard magazine’s list of top music law schools, published in the Aug. 24, 2019, print edition.

Five alumni were named to Billboard’s list of Top Music Lawyers 2019:

  • Allen Grubman ’67, founder of leading entertainment law firm Grubman Indursky Shire & Meiselas. A past Alumnus of the Year, his firm represents Spotify in the critically important area of streaming, is helping to restructure Barbra Streisand’s recording arrangements, and has been involved with Bruce Springsteen’s Broadway show and Elton John’s movie about his life.
  • Paul Schindler ’71, Shareholder, Greenberg Traurig. Schindler negotiated Billy Joel’s July performance at Baltimore’s Oriole Park at Camden Yards, the first concert ever staged at the ballpark.
  • Peter Brodsky ’90, EVP, Business and Legal Affairs, Sony/ATV Music Publishing. Brodsky led the team that recently closed the $2.2 billion deal through which Sony Corp. acquired the 60 percent share in EMI Music Publishing that it didn’t already own.
  • Ed Shapiro ’91, Partner, Reed Smith. Shapiro helped negotiate Rihanna’s groundbreaking partnership with luxury goods company LVMH.
  • Jordan Bromley ’05, Partner, Manatt Phelps & Phillips. At 40, Bromley is the youngest head of the entertainment transactions and finance group in the firm’s recent history.

The Law School often has been noted for its entertainment law course and workshop, as well as the certificate in intellectual property, media, and information law. The Brooklyn Entertainment & Sports Law Society, one of the largest and most prolific student-run organizations at the Law School, is also an invaluable source of programs and resources for students interested in careers in entertainment.
