Mark C. Hampton, a longtime leader in higher education administration, has joined Brooklyn Law School as Executive Vice President for Administration & Finance and Chief Business Officer. Reporting to Dean Michael T. Cahill, Hampton will provide strategic and operational leadership for the Offices of Finance, Facilities, Information Technology, Public Safety, and Human Resources. He will lead the financial administration, business planning, and budgeting of the Law School and will be a central member of the Law School’s senior administrative team.

Hampton brings extensive and deep experience in higher education administration to this newly created position. He comes to the school from Washington College in Chestertown, MD, where he served as Executive Vice President for Strategy and Operations. In that position, he oversaw key areas of administration while developing a holistic institutional strategy for enhancing the college’s financial stability and solidifying its long-term sustainability. He had previously served as Vice President for Finance and Administration at Washington College before moving to New York City to become Vice President for Enrollment & Enterprise Analytics at New York Institute of Technology. Hampton also spent seven years at the University of Virginia, where he was Assistant Vice President for Budget and Financial Planning and Senior Associate Dean for Strategy and Planning. He has served senior leadership roles in institutional research, budgeting, research administration, and planning at Virginia Commonwealth University, the State Council of Higher Education in Virginia, and the University of Utah.

“This new role promises to be as demanding as it is important, but Mark is exactly the right person for the job,” said Cahill. “Both his insight regarding big-picture strategic matters and his oversight of day-to-day operational matters will be instrumental to the Law School’s future success.”

“I am absolutely thrilled to be joining Brooklyn Law School and to have the opportunity to work with Dean Cahill and others to increase the positive impact that Brooklyn Law has on the lives of its graduates and on society,” Hampton said. “I am confident that my experiences as an administrator at a variety of different institutions and my deep respect for the great work of Brooklyn Law’s faculty will help position the school for its best possible future.”

Hampton holds a Ph.D. in educational leadership and policy, M.Stat. in mathematical statistics, and B.A. in mathematics, all from the University of Utah.
