Dean Michael T. Cahill, Professor Jonathan Askin Join NYC Mayoral Transition Team

New York City Mayor-elect Eric Adams, Brooklyn neighbor and long-time friend of the Law School, has tapped Dean Michael T. Cahill to join his legal transition team. Professor Jonathan Askin will be serving on Adams’ tech transition team.

“Mayor-elect Adams has been a great supporter of the Law School, and I am honored to be asked to assist in his transition,” said Cahill. “Every year, many of our graduates enter careers in public service, and we have been fortunate to have the mayor-elect and others in our community serve as role models for them.”

Adams, who will be moving to City Hall after eight years of service as Brooklyn borough president, collaborated on numerous events with the Law School over the years. He has spoken on panels at the Law School, including the Center for Urban Business Entrepreneurship’s “Growing Greens in the Grid: The Future of Urban Agriculture in NYC” in 2017. Adams also declared Nov. 6, 2019, “Joseph Crea Day” upon the death of Professor Emeritus Joseph Crea ’47 to commemorate the long-time faculty member’s iconic status both at the Law School and in Brooklyn.

Other Brooklyn Law School community members tapped to serve on various transition committees include New York State Assembly Member and Brooklyn Democratic Party Chair Rodneyse Bichotte ’24, Yetta Kurland ’97, and Adjunct Professor David Greenfield.
