The Brooklyn Law School community extends a warm welcome to three new professors joining the Legal Writing Program in July: Assistant Professors Alissa Bauer, Louis Jim, and Alberto Rodriguez.

Alissa Bauer officially joins the Law School’s Legal Writing faculty after serving as Visiting Assistant Professor at Brooklyn Law School during the 2021-2022 academic year. Previously, she spent 10 years at the Elisabeth Haub School of Law at Pace University where she taught the first-year legal writing course, an LL.M. legal writing course, an appellate advocacy course, and a contract drafting course. Bauer was also a litigation associate at Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison.

Louis Jim joins the Brooklyn Law School faculty after four years at Albany Law School, where he taught legal communication and research as well as criminal justice courses. His interests focus on whether traditional methods of teaching legal communication concepts still apply and using technology to better teach today's law students. Professor Jim has also practiced law in the public and private sectors. He served as an assistant attorney general in the New York State Office of the Attorney General and as an associate attorney at Bond, Schoeneck & King, where he practiced commercial, tort, and estate litigation.

Alberto Rodriguez joins the Law School faculty after teaching legal writing as a Lecturer-in-Law at Columbia Law School since 2011. His classes have included brief-writing, oral advocacy, and fundamental lawyering skills. Professor Rodriguez served as a litigation associate in the New York office of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom, an assistant corporation counsel representing the City of New York and its agencies, and as counsel in the labor and employment group of Seyfarth Shaw. Most recently, he was a supervising attorney prosecuting employment discrimination cases at the New York City Commission on Human Rights.
